BOOK REVIEW ; Again But Better

Again, but Better

ABOUT THE BOOK (synopsis)

Shane has been doing college all wrong. Pre-med, stellar grades, and happy parents…sounds ideal—but Shane’s made zero friends, goes home every weekend, and romance…what’s that?

Her life has been dorm, dining hall, class, repeat. Time’s a ticking, and she needs a change—there’s nothing like moving to a new country to really mix things up. Shane signs up for a semester abroad in London. She’s going to right all her college mistakes: make friends, pursue boys, and find adventure!

Easier said than done. She is soon faced with the complicated realities of living outside her bubble, and when self-doubt sneaks in, her new life starts to fall apart.

Shane comes to find that, with the right amount of courage and determination one can conquer anything. Throw in some fate and a touch of magic—the possibilities are endless.

Firstly, I actually picked this book up because a book tuber wrote it and I actually wanted to be supportive and see what the author have to offer (writing-wise).

I was really hesitant to read this book because I kept seeing mixed reviews and I probably shouldn’t have read any reviews beforehand as that actually made me let the book sit for a couple of months untouched but I made an effort to read it and I totally respect the work & dedication that has obviously gone into this.

That being said, this book did not live up to expectations for me and for one, I think she tried way too hard on checking a kind of a checklist I think she had from years of reading YA or what not and it was really really hard for me to get into. I really tried focusing on the story and the writing(loved the writing) but book just wasn’t doing it for me.

Good book for me has to have good character developments for me. Safe to say I wasn’t impressed  with characters, character naming and the whole girl on girl hate narrative and all but I better stop here as I do not like writing a bad review but it was definitely a 2star for effort for me and I actually DNF it which is the first book I’ve def in a really long time but this is just my PERSONAL FEELING and doesn’t necessarily mean the book was bad as there was an aspect I did like (traveling ab road to study and trying to turn your life around)

If you’d wanted reading this book, you should as you might actually love it. I made the review short and not really get into the story much as I didn’t want to give spoilers but you should maybe check it out for yourself and see if you’d think differently from me.
