  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

This week’s teaser is from Lost You – Haley Beck

But three days into their vacation, Libby’s fears prove justified. In a moment of inattention, Ethan wanders into an elevator before Libby can reach him. When the elevator stops and the doors open, Ethan is gone. Hotel security scours the building and finds no trace of him, but when CCTV footage is found of an adult finding the child wandering alone and leading him away by the hand, the police are called in

The writing in this book is so different and well written and I’m so glad I finally decided to read!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

This week’s topic: Changes In My Reading Life

from genres to habits

This will be so fun to write 😀 I love today’s prompt mainly because I’ve had it at the back of my mind to write something similar to this for awhile but I have no idea why I’ve waited this long but yeah! I have the perfect motivation to write today💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻

So here we go….

The major visible change to my reading lifestyle in recent times came from joining Bookstagram. Bookstagram is one tiny corner of the gram😀 where book lovers and avid readers comes together and bond over shared love of books and reading. It a community fill with love, friendship and super inclusive! Ever since I joined Bookstagram in June this year, my reading habit has become so much better and finally back to where it was a few years back. And also, I finally have thousands of people I can finally share my love for books and reading with💃🏻🥰 We make being a GEEK look cool 😎 over there😁

There is so much more to write about this wonderful community but I’m a bit late to today’s prompt and trying to work with a limited time frame. If you are on Instagram, go follow me on there let’s connect 💙

2. AUDIOBOOKS: finally giving them a chance!

audiobooks were never my thing. In fact, I never used to give them the time of the day. I was solely convinced they weren’t for me. It’s not like I hated them per say, but I never cared much for them and was super contented with my physical books but I could appreciate them from afar They were just never for me.

But then, I fell in a terrible reading slump a couple of months back and I made a post on Instagram about it and a couple of my #bookstagram friends suggested I try audiobooks and recommended some with good narrator for me. That was when I decided to give them a chance and I found out there weren’t really as terrible as I had initially thought, I just wasn’t finding a good narrator! I can’t say I’m a super fan yet as I still Sometimes struggle with keeping my attention and all… I’m still very selective about the ones I pick up because some I still don’t like very much but some others were really good and I mostly listen to classics and romance and some good thrillers. I know audiobooks have been a great help when it comes to my reading and number of books I read of recent. Above are some of my favorites that I truly enjoyed and you should check them out if you’d love to.

I was so big on Historical fiction and Mystery/Thrillers, I almost never read anything else. But these days, I have branched out on the genres that I love ❤️ to read a bit and became more inclusive and open to trying out other genres. But now, I’ve started reading reading more and more genres and I’m glad I finally break bounds I’ve placed on my own self and I’m loving it. I have branched out even more. I think this year is probably the most different genre books that I’ve ever read and I’m finally giving YA some attention too which I think it’s cool.

I’ve always been big on series over stand-alone but I have now come to noticed I actually prefer series and the longer the series the better for me. The appeal of series can never be over exaggerated, I mean, you get to spend more time with your favorite characters and the story can become very intricate. And writers actually have more time to properly develop characters and plot depth and all of that…. I love love long series and I can’t help it😁

But that is not to say I don’t enjoy standalone, because I actually do too and there are some really good ones of late I can’t help but love. It’s just… I’m more of a character based reader and I need to personally connect with my characters to actually enjoy any book. I feel like some standalone don’t dedicate much time to character building which is understandable because of time and space and all that.

I can now read a lot faster than I care to before I started blogging. When I was much younger, I was a very fast reader and always eager to pick up the next book.

But it just so happen that as I got older, i started reading less and takes weeks to finish books I normally can finish in a day. But blogging has revived my love for reading and I’m on my way back to my teenage years reading habit.

sometimes i lie  you know how I said I’ve been making an effort to read more genres, yeah! I’ve since discovered more and more genres I actually love. Ever since I started my blog and I’ve been reading more and more genres, I thought some genre might overtake my love for historicals and mystery/thrillers. But that never happened but sci-fi is slowly becoming my 3rd favorite.

I never used to be big on ebooks! I love physical books so much and there really is not quite as awesome as the smell of new books. The smell of books calms me down and I love picking up new ones every now and then. And ofc the feel of holding a physical book is glorious!

But since this year and since I started blogging, I have started reading e-books almost exclusively. I still have physical books and still love buying them regularly but I read them on occasion now and I mostly use them for my BOOKSTAGRAM photos and creating aesthetics and flatlays.

The convenience of e-books has really made me stick to them more and more. The fact that I don’t have to remember to grab a book, that I can just pull up my Kindle and literally read on the go and anywhere has been a game changer.

I don’t just like reading from a singular persons POV but more than one is actually more fun. I’d love to hear from another’s perspective too.

The sun is also a star   I’ve never been big on romance books but safe to say I’ve read some this year that I totally liked and I actually do love paranormal romance 😁

But I have been giving more conscious effort to actually read more even if I can’t say I’m a fan yet!😀

I read arcs now and actually enjoy reading and reviewing them and also get to introduce others to them when I actually love them. This is a new habit that I actually enjoy doing.

So… those are some of the things that have changed in my reading life of late! There is more to write but I’d rather stop here now and continue another time😁

What about you?? What has changed in your reading habit?? Tell me below.

  1. Audio and ebooks really have changed my reading game. I find I can get more read with both of these at my fingertips.

    Great list today!

  2. Wish I could read regular books, but it strains my eyes. Getting old sucks. E-books I can set the font size and it’s easier. Audio books are great too, just I have trouble not falling asleep and having to find where I dropped off and pick it back up. https://pmprescott.blogspot.com/

    1. Ebooks are a total game changers and makes life so much easier! I can set my kindle light to however I want and still be able to read in total darkness! I still struggle with audiobooks a bit but I’m getting better at it.

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll go check yours out now❤️

  3. Totally agree about audiobooks! I’ll take it a step farther and say I thought they were lame AF, but after complaining to a friend about a 3 hour commute I had she finally convinced me to try them. It was like a whole new world of possibilities opened up for me when I realized I could still “read” while driving, cleaning, etc.

    Great list! My TTT

    1. I was never a fan of them too but I can now safely say I read a lot more books now because of audiobooks and the fact that you can just pop on your headphones/AirPods and go on with your chores and day while reading has got to be the best thing about them😁😍

Thanks for stopping by and I’ll go check yours out now ❤️❤️

  4. I’ve kind of had the same relationship with audiobooks. I still don’t love them. I have to be cleaning or other wise engaged to be able to listen to them or I get easily distracted. But I have been trying. 😉 And I love Bookstagram too. It has changed my reading for sure. ( I followed you by the way. I’m abookwanderer on their as well. :))

Great post and thank you for stopping by my TTT!

    1. I too get easily distracted but they come with so much easy and I’m getting to really like listening to them!

Bookstagram is really the best and yes I did follow you right back and was at your TTT last week too.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sorry for late reply ❤️❤️

  5. I really love audiobooks, but only started them in the last 4- 5 years. I listen during my daily commute and when I exercise, and feel like it helps the time go by so quickly. 🙂

    1. I’m starting to love them too😍 and I started few weeks back🙈

The ease and convenience that comes with them is really the best thing about them.

Thanks so much for stopping by and sorry for late reply ❤️

  6. We have some of the same things on our lists! For me, ebooks are definitely my primary format for reading just about everything. It’s just so convenient! My genres have also branched out quite a bit too.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  7. This is an awesome list and I have gone through some similar experiences as you too! I didn’t include bookstagram, ARCs and audiobooks on my list too (woopsies, that memory of mine!) but my reading life has changed immensely since I started bookstagram! I’ve also found some really great audiobooks and have become more willing to give more of them a try 😍 I love seeing so many similar changes in other peoples’ reading experiences!

    1. Thanks so much! Indeed bookstagram has made my reading life a whole lot better ❤️

I recently started giving audiobooks a try and definitely not so bad😁

Thanks so much for stopping by ❤️
